    “Best Out of Waste” is a creative-academic event organized under SWARNIM 2026 by the School of Sciences to promote sustainability, innovation, and scientific thinking. The competition encourages students of 11th, 12th, UG, and PG levels to design functional and innovative models using discarded, scrap, and reusable materials. By transforming waste into valuable scientific demonstrations, participants showcase environmental responsibility along with technical knowledge. The event emphasizes experiential learning, problem-solving, and real-world applications of scientific concepts.     Objective

    The objective of “Best Out of Waste” under SWARNIM 2026 is to promote sustainability and scientific innovation by encouraging students to creatively reuse discarded and scrap materials. The event aims to develop problem-solving abilities through low-cost, eco-friendly scientific models, while enhancing presentation and demonstration skills. It fosters environmental awareness, experiential learning, and scientific temperament by integrating creativity with real-world applications and responsible resource utilization.

    Participation Guidelines

    '
    • The competition is open to students of Class 11th, 12th, Undergraduate (UG), and Postgraduate (PG) programs.
    • Students may participate individually or in teams of up to 3 members.
    • All models must be developed primarily using waste, scrap, or reusable materials (kabad).
    • The project must clearly demonstrate a scientific principle, technological concept, or real-world problem solution.
    • Each participant/team must submit a brief abstract (150–200 words) describing the concept, materials used, and relevance.
    • Participants must present and demonstrate their model before the judging panel.
    • The use of hazardous, flammable, or unsafe materials is strictly prohibited.
    • Models must be original and innovative; plagiarism or duplication may lead to disqualification.
    • Participants must adhere to the time limits for setup and presentation.
    • The decision of the judges will be final and binding

    Judgement Criteria

    The evaluation of models in the “Best Out of Waste” competition will be based on the following criteria:

    • Innovation & Creativity (20 Marks) Originality of the idea and creative use of waste materials.
    • Scientific Concept & Clarity (20 Marks) Clear explanation and accurate representation of scientific principles or technological concepts.
    • Effective Use of Waste Materials (15 Marks) Extent to which scrap/recycled materials are meaningfully and efficiently utilized.
    • Practical Relevance & Problem-Solving (15 Marks) Applicability of the model in solving real-world or environmental problems.
    • Presentation & Demonstration Skills (15 Marks) Confidence, clarity, communication skills, and ability to answer questions.
    • Working Condition & Functionality (15 Marks) Whether the model is functional, stable, and properly demonstrated.
